Nicole's story

Nicole K. was born on 4 December 1971 and has lived for 18 years in Sikècodji in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin. Nicole is married to Philippe Hountondji and is the mother of four children, with one additional child in her care. All of the children are in school. Nicole lives together with her children and husband. The couple provide for the family together. Nicole ended her studies in primary school. To contribute to meeting the family's expenses, Nicole sells food (red maize paste and 'piron' - a paste made from manioc flour) in her district. Nicole gets her supplies at Dantokpa, the international market in Benin. Nicole has run this business for 8 years, and has already obtained one loan through ALIDÉ (one of Kiva's field partners), which she repaid properly. Nicole is seeking a second loan with ALIDÉ to increase her production and better satisfy her clientele.
