A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Sabina's Group's story

Sabina, pictured above, has been a farmer for 10 years, and is now proud to represent her group of 11 farmers in Mumias District. She is 46 years old, married and has 4 children.

Sabina likes to think of herself as a very friendly person. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2016 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to spread the story of One Acre Fund farmers. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has had more profits from each harvest. Sabina plans to use the profits from this coming season to buy a cow.

In total, Sabina’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 8.5 acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of 2 solar lights.

In this group: Sabina, Moses, Christine, Velly, Omusula, Shieyo, Anindo, Farida, Francis, Metrine, Washika

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
