A loan helped a member to buy clothing materials.

Dove Group's story

Getrude is a lady aged 54-years-old. She has made her tailoring business the main source of household income. She is a widow taking care of her one school going-child and her six grandchildren. She resides in Kuwadzana where she makes different types of clothes.

Getrude started her business many years ago and has managed to grow her operations. She produces clothes from home then sells them at a busy shopping center where she has employed an assistant who sells the products. She used to get materials from local shops, but with the increasing demand, she started buying materials from Zambia at a lower cost.

The increasing demand and business activity made Getrude to join Thrive Microfinance together with her friends to access additional capital. Getrude used her portion of the loan to buy clothing materials from Zambia in bulk at affordable prices which has seen her reducing her travelling trips to restock and focus more on production.
