A loan of $2,125 helped a member to purchase pants, polo shirts and blouses for resale.

Brisas 1, 2 Group's story

Victoria is the coordinator of her group, Brisas (Breezes), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti) clients generally. Her group is located in the slums north of the capital, Santo Domingo, an area where crime is rampant and where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-term partner and their four children. Victoria is excited to be taking her second loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling clothing, by purchasing a dozen men's and women's pants to sell as well as a dozen polo shirts and blouses to sell. She will use the profits to invest in her home by improving the roof as well as saving money to proviD. for a day when she may become sick. She thanks you all for your support.
