Nilza Augusto's story

Nilza Augusto was born in the city of Matola, in the Maputo Province, in the South of Mozambique. She is 23 years old, married and the mother of a 1-year old and a 4-year old. None of the children are in school. She only went to school until the 10th grade due to a teen pregnancy. She owns the house she lives in with her family. Her husband works for Mozambique Power Company. She doesn't support anyone other than her own family.

In 2005, she left Matola for the Boane District with her family. Her husband was transferred there by his employer. She has had her own business in her backyard for over 3 years. She works from 7am to 5pm everyday and has no employees. Her business brings an income of around 3.000.00mt a month which goes towards house expenses and a traditional rotational savings system (Xitique).

She has never had loans from other banks. She came to know about Hluvuku through her cousin who is also a member. This loan, in the amount of 25.000.00mt, is her third. She intends to building materials (screens, beams, cement and others) to continue building her house. The previous loans were for 6.000.00mt and15.000.00mt and were used for the same purpose.

She makes a commitment to pay this loan on time, to be able to be granted further credit. In the future, she would like to request more loans to finish her house and offer more comfort to her family.
