A loan of $1,700 helped a member to purchase hair products and a hair iron.

Esmirna 4-5 Group's story

Greysy is the coordinator of her group, Esmirna, and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti) clients generally. Her group is located in the rural areas surrounding La Romana where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-term partner and their child.

Greysy is excited to be taking her third loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loans and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business running a beauty salon by investing in a line of hair products (including shampoos, rinses and dyes) to sell in her salon as well as in an iron for straightening hair. She will use the profits to invest in her home by continuing construction to complete her home. She thanks you all for your support.

In this group: Greysy, Marleny, Justina, Asia, Christina, Belgica, Jeshica, Yolanda, Luz , Luciana
