Bernadette Baï's story

Bernadette Baï S. was born on July 11, 1970 in Abomey, historical town of Benin. About 16 years ago, Bernadette Bai settled in the neighborhood of Womey, in the town of Abomey Calavi. She is married to Claude Gbocogo, an agent of COGESSA in Benin. Bernadette Bai is the mother of three children, all attending school. She lives alone with her children and she alone supports them. She only attended primary school.

To meet her needs and those of her children, Bernadette Bai sells condiments (onions, hot peppers, fresh tomatoes, spices: pepper, garlic etc…) in her store located in her home. She also sells various products (eggs, smoke fish etc…). She gets her supplies in Glazoue and at the Djoda market in Benin.

She has been practicing this activity for 12 years. Bernadette Bai has already received a loan from ALIDé, the loan was reimbursed fully. She would like to expand her activity and open a second store in her neighborhood’s market place, in order to increase her income and to better meet the needs of her customers. This brings Bernadette Bai to request a second loan from ALIDé.
