A loan of $375 helped to buy fertilizer.

Haydee's story

Haydee, 39, is an enterprising woman. She is married to Francisco, 54, and they have 5 children; the three youngest, Emily, 10, Andelina,3, and Gresly, 1, live with them still. They own their own, centrally located, home in Tarma province.

For the last 11 years she and her husband have farmed potatoes, corn, peas and broad beans. Her eldest daugheter, although she does not live with them anymore, helps. Despite having to care for her two small children, she comes to work the fields daily because she likes to see them clean and rich in foliage.

Haydee considers her work to be quite profitable because it allowed her to meet imprtant goals in her life. She states: "I plant because, farming allowed my to support my household, to buy my home, educate my children and purchase more farmlands. Besides, I'm the first one to taste the crops and insure their quality and flavor."

For the future, she plans to plant larger amounts so that her profits will be higher; she is even enlarging her home so that she can raise small animals to sell.

This is her first loan with MFP. She pledges to her fellow members, whom she knows to be hard-working, honest people, to repay on time.

With the aim of a successful crop, she will use the requested funds to buy several sacks of fertilizers that cost 1000 new soles, approximately.

As one can see in the photo, she is in a farm supply store asking about prices.
