A loan of $500 helped invest in shoe repair supplies.

Luis Humberto's story

Luis is 23 years old and very enterprising. Over the years he has learned the business of all types of shoe repair from his father in the capital’s marketplace. He lives with his parents, and helps them meet their daily needs. He decided to begin working on his own and with the help of his father and financing through Afodenic, he was able to buy the machine and supplies he needed to do the work. His long-range goal is to be able to pay for a spot where he can have greater job security and provide better service to his clients, as he works in a crowded marketplace, “Mercado Oriental.” Each day he locates himself near an entrance, where clothing is sold. There are good and bad days, but he never stops working. He has gotten many customers and with this loan he would like to buy supplies, such as leather, nylon cord, soles for men’s and woman’s shoes, heels, shoe polish, tacks, sewing needles, and other things. He wants to be able to give better service to his customers.
