Jose Ricardo's story

José C. is a great admirer of the land of his birth, the Colombian department of Huila. This place is known for its varying climates among the different elevations, the beautiful landscapes, a snow-capped volcano, mountains, rivers that form various tributaries, whimsical cave formations, and expressed warmth of its desert.

José is married, has three children, and has been a great entrepreneur all of his life. For 25 years, he and his wife have racked up many accomplishments. He started a basic business selling fried foods. As he gained more business experience, he began managing larger micro-enterprises. Today he has adequate housing and two business locations where he sells food, beverages and especially soft-drinks that accompany the music that invites families to have a good time on the terrace of his establishment. Prior to establishing his restaurant, he distributed merchandise in bulk to small businesses located in central Barranquilla where he acquired many customers and very good employees, three of whom continue to work for him. José’s workers recognize him as a fine leader and have noticed his ability to take his business from a rented area to a location that he owns.

José has received four previous loans from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. His excellent money management has helped him increase his operating capital and sustain a decent lifestyle for his family. He dreams of continuing his progress and hopes that his youngest child will achieve the goal of becoming a professional. José lives in a safe neighborhood and his establishment is located at a strategic commercial site that is well-known among the residents of Barranquilla and Soledad. Everyone likes the idea of having a safe place where families can come to have fun. For this reason, José is requesting a seasonal loan in the amount of 2,000,000 COP to buy soft drinks and food for the events that he will host on the terrace of his business. As Carnival season approaches, his neighbors are asking when his parties will take place because his business is known for promoting family unity, strong friendships, and safe ties among the residents.
