A loan helped to buy dairy cows to increase her income from her sales of organic milk.

Dinara's story

The 50-year-old Dinara is married, with three children. She has a secondary specialized education and teaches in a local school. To supplement her family's income, she raises livestock and grows crops. Her neighbors speak of her as a cheerful, honest, and industrious woman. Thanks to Dinara's hard work and her husband's help with the farm, it presently consists of two cows, 60 sheep, six horses, and a 1.48-hectare plot of land on which she grows beans. She has a contract to deliver organic milk to the local plant, where it is processed into dairy products. This allows Dinara to constantly invest in her agricultural business.

After learning that she could obtain a loan from Bai Tushum Bank, using the the contract for future deliveries as collateral under a Value-Added Chain arrangement, Dinara applied for a loan of 100,000 som (KGS), with which she will buy dairy cows to increase her sales of milk. The plant's payments for the milk will be deposited directly into Dinara's bank account, and the loan payments will be automatically deducted. The income generated by the loan will help Dinara increase her livestock headcount going forward and expand her farm.
