A loan of $750 helped a member to purchse bed covers, pillows and a stove.

Mujeres Liberadas 1 Group's story

Tanya is the coordinator of her group Mujeres Liberadas (Liberated Women), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients (many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti) generally. Her group is located in Los Alcarrizzos, an industrial town north of the capital where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her husband and their six children.

Tanya is excited to be taking her second loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling bed covers and pillows by purchasing more merchandise. She also plans to purchase an oven with which to make sandwiches to sell. She will use the profits to save for her children's education. She thanks you all for your support.

In this group: Tania, Ana, Raquel, Yecenia, Josefina
