A loan helped to buy certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizer to improve her horticulture production, generate more income, and elevate her standard of living.

Faith's story

Faith is a cheerful lady who is always smiling, regardless of whether she is going through good or bad times. Thanks to her perseverance and courage, her family leads a respectable life. She is so humble and honest and a very hardworking mother.

Faith started farming, and has been doing this for the past few years. Throughout the years, she has gathered much experience, learning all the farming techniques. She practices mixed farming, and with the profits she has managed to take care of her family's needs.

The Kerugoya area is a favorable one for farming so she is seeking a 50,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to buy certified seeds and fertilizer to enable her to grow more horticulture crops, reap maximum profits, and increase her business.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Kerugoya, is very challenging, but Faith feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her.

She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, but her biggest dreams are to become independent and support her family by herself.

Kindly lend to a Kenyan farmer with great dreams!

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
