Confianza Group's story

The Confianza Community Bank is maD. up of 10 members from the Kupini Zone which is located in Kupini Central. The members earn a living by selling perfumes, creating handmaD. weavings, selling food, selling potatoes, selling school supplies etc. This group of members is entering their 11th lending cycle with a 40% restructuring resulting in 60% of founding members remaining.

Mrs. Maria: This is her third loan in this cycle and she has assumed responsibility as president of the group. She is the leader and the representative of the bank. She is a member who is very strict on timely repayment of her groups’ loans. This is her fourth cycle dedicated to cosmetic sales.
She is a married woman with 2 children. Her husband works as a superintendant of pensions.

The loans obtained previously were used to buy basic materials to make skirts. This activity helps pay her family’s debts and helps her husband continue to better their economic quality of life.

Throughout her term with her group, she has demonstrated she is a team-player and always helps out in order to advance in the group’s work. She is very demanding with their repayments and very strict with her companions at the time of repayment.

Mrs. Silveria: She is one of the bank’s founders and treasurer. She is a cheerful, dynamic member who maintains the joy in the group and takes delight in her companions. She is responsible for their repayments and strict with her companions.

This member sells sweet drinks and a variety of desserts from her stall which is located in front of a school. She also spends time creating handmaD. weavings. She has one daughter.

Her previous loan was used to buy groceries for her stall. Now that she has capitalized on that, her dream is to be able to purchase something to transport her groceries.

Mrs. Juana: In this cycle she has assumed responsibility as treasurer of the bank. She is a member who earns a living selling chinaware. In addition, she has a neighborhood store. During her term, she has demonstrated responsibility. Her mother is in delicate health and for this reason she strives to progress.

She is a single member and has now worked three cycles with our institution. During her term she has learned to be responsible and communicate with her companions. She is with the group thanks to her mother who used to work with our institution.

Her dream is to be able to augment her working capital and to be able to buy a house.

All the members are grateful to Emprender and Kiva for the trust placed in them by extending credit.
