A loan helped me purchase equipment for my facial business in attempt to make my shop more efficient and have my clients more comfortable.

Maria's story

I was born and raised in El Salvador and sadly I did not have the best childhood. My family and I were greatly impacted by the war and as a result I lost my father. Since I was 21, I have dedicated myself to customer service jobs but when I moved to California with my sister and saw the opportunity to learn from her I took it. At first, I started working for her at her beauty salon for a total of 15 years, and then when she gave me the chance to start my own business I was entirely grateful. I have been through many hardships in my life, including being diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2010 but I am fighting on the best I can. The biggest dream and mission I want to get out of this business is being able to financially support myself and my younger sister, "Conchita", who is still in El Salvador. Conchita is also ill, as she has brain paralysis and as her legal guardian, I travel back and forth from El Salvador and California to ensure her well being. The opportunity for this business has given me motivation to bring out a lot of good in life and that through this journey I will be secure in my own life. Which is why the biggest goal for this business is to have my own shop one day and hopefully be a full-on Spa.

This loan is special because:

It helps a female entrepreneur invest in her cosmetics business and support her family in El Salvador.
