A loan of $775 helped to buy lipsticks, creams, perfumes and motor oil.

Angelica Cecilia's story

Ms Angélica has been a member of the Communal Bank Confraternidad de Damas for 2 payment cycles. These women meet in the city of Portoviejo in the Manabi Province every two weeks to share news of how everything is going. Angélica is a single mother of two children. She lives in the home of an aunt (by marriage) who has been the person offering her help.
Our partner is known as a fighting, hard-working woman who helps herself economically. For a year she has been selling beauty supplies of different brands, and so far it’s going well. She began with a small working capital of $200. Recently she has been able to buy a display case to show the products in her home to her customers. She also takes to time to sell door to door . Our partner and her aunt have been able to save some capital and have put together a business selling motor oil. She buys gallons from wholesalers and sells it in a stand that her aunt lent her. There she also helps her take care of a nephew. With the requested loan she will divide the money to add lipsticks, creams, perfumes, etc. and oil to stock up the merchandise for the two businesses.
