A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Judith's Group's story

Judith, pictured above, has been a farmer for four years, and is now proud to represent her group of 11 farmers in Kakamega B (North) District. She is 27 years old, married and has two children.

Judith likes to think of herself as a very resourceful person. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2018 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has learned a lot from farming training. Judith plans to use the profits from this coming season to save more money for the future.

In total, Judith’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate six acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of six solar lights.

In this group: Judith, Mary, Judith, Peretine, Petronicah , Hellen , Esther, Leah, Selina, Carolyne, Lucy

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
