Falilath's story

A. Falilath was born in 1972 in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin. Ten years ago, she got situated in the Foun-Foun quarter, in the 4th district of the city of Porto-Novo, the administrative capital of Benin. Married to YAYA Mouran, a shipping agent, she is the mother of three children who are all in school. She lives with her three children and husband. Together, the couple ensures that family expenses are covered.

To meet her different needs and to help out her husband, Falilath sells food (rice served with sauce; and cornmeal porridge) and also a variety of goods, in Porto-Novo. She stocks up in Cotonou and at Ikpinlé, a market for staple foods.

Falilath had benefited from two ALIDé loans, which she has repaid. Her ambition is to increase the size of her business and to cope better with the demands of her customers. But given the few financial means at her disposal, she's requesting a third loan from ALIDé.
