San Martín, Peru / General Store

A loan of $900 helped buy groceries to supply her business.

Betty's story

Mrs. Betty is a member of the community bank “Los Eucaliptos”, in the District of Tarapoto, Province of San Martin, Department of San Martin. She is married, 37 years old and the mother of 2 young daughters under her care. Her cheerful character and yearning to fulfill her dreams motivated her to establish her own business selling groceries where the profits would contribute to her household income. From the time she started until now, she has been gaining customers. Her business is located in her own house in a well-organized location. Nowadays, she enjoys loyal customers that visit her store daily because they can find all the products that a housewife would need and she personally assists them with the charisma that characterizes her. With the loan of S/. 2,500 she will buy packaged paper, noodles, boxed milk, canned fish (various types and brands), crates of eggs and personal hygiene products in order to continue improving the service to her customers. Betty, as people affectionally call her, feels very good and hopes to continue working; she is very thankful to the organization Movimiento Manuela Ramos for helping women like her to have opportunities for development in their respective environments.
