Rebecca's Group's story

Rebecca G. is from the village of Luna in Roxas, Isabela. She is 52 years old. Rebecca is the leader of a 10-member loan group sponsored by ASKI. Although each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for repaying the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

Rebecca is married and has 3 school-aged children. To make a living, Rebecca owns and operates a general store where she sells a variety of different products in the local community. Rebecca has been engaged in her business for over 7 years and earns approximately 5,000 PHP a month from these activities.

In 2007, Rebecca joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Rebecca has successfully repaid a previous loan of 7000 PHP from ASKI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional products to sell. Rebecca is requesting a new loan of 7000 PHP to purchase new items to expand her product offering. This will be Rebecca's 5th loan from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.
