A loan of $250 helped to purchase stone, sand, cement and iron in order to build a concrete bathroom and toilet for the improved hygiene and safety of his family.

Francisco Javier's story

Francisco is 37 years old and is married. He and his wife have a son who is a student. As the father of a family, he wants the best for his son. He has worked as the driver of a truck for the last two years, during which he has been able to make improvements to his home. When he started this job he drove a truck for hauling and was paid by commission, but now his wages are fixed. Even though he doesn’t make much, it is enough for food, basic bills, and other expenses. With this loan he wants to able to properly close off his bathroom and latrine, which he has covered with pieces of tin and a curtain. This is uncomfortable, unsafe and not very hygienic, but he can’t afford to put up concrete walls all at once. With the loans given to him by Afodenic he is making the improvements bit by bit. It is a great joy for him to be able to make the improvements which are a daily necessity for his family’s hygiene. He will buy construction supplies such as stone, sand, cement and iron in order to complete the project. Only through this process can people of low income carry out these improvements.
