A loan of $900 helped top buy seeds, fertilizers and insecticides.

Nimia's story

Nimia, 27, lives with her husband Raul, who is also 27 years old. They have 2 children together: Anthony, who is 7, and Farid, who is 1. This family lives in their own home located in a remote area in the Peruvian highlands.

Potatoes, corn, peas and gladiolus flowers are the agricultural products that she has been cultivating for 7 years, with the help of her husband. They own the land that they cultivate, and they also rent other lands to increase their production. When she harvests the peas and flowers she must select them for their quality and size, but this is a simple process. After the harvest she must fertilize with compost to avoid being invaded by pests and to generate the most income when the products are brought to market.

In the future, Nimia is thinking of buying more land so that she could avoid having to rent land. This way she could cultivate in larger quantities to obtain higher earnings to help her get ahead.

This is her second loan with MFP, and she is very happy because she likes to work with the other members of her communal bank, who share her desire to succeed. With the money that she now requests she will buy 2 sacks of pea seeds, so that she can take advantage of the upcoming planting season. In addition, she will use the money to buy a sack of fertilizer and a bottle of insecticide.
