Gs Resistencia 3 Group's story

Marie lives in the municipality of La Caleta San Pedro de Macoris in Dominican Republic. La Caleta’s economy is mainly based on fishing, informal trade and services in the tourism industry.

Marie came to the country from Haiti eighteen years ago. She came with her sister to look for work. Here she met her Dominican husband; they got married and had children. Marie sells clothing, a business that provides her with an income to help to support her family.

Marie sells skirts, trousers, shirts, curtains, shoes, dresses, shorts, and T-shirts, among other things. She could only study up to her third year of high school and has not been able to finish her secondary education or do a university degree because she lacks the necessary financial resources.

Marie dreams of having a large shop and expand her business to other towns. Marie needs your help to buy merchandise and stock her shop in order to continue to make an income and go on helping her family.
