Cecelia Villalon's Group's story

Cecelia V. is from the village of Lower Lamac. She is 52 years old. Cecelia is the group leader of a three-member group loan offered by PMPC. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

Cecelia is married and has four adult children. To make a living, Cecelia owns and operates a "lapida" (epitaph) making business, providing epitaph services to local community members. Cecelia has been in business for more than ten years and earns approximately 10,000 PHP a month for these activities.In 2004, Cecelia joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Cecelia has successfully repaid a previous loan from PMPC. Cecelia is requesting a new loan of 10,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase materials needed to provide service. This loan will be the tenth loan taken out by Cecelia from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
