A loan helped to purchase a biodigester to turn farm waste into renewable resources.

John's story

John is a farmer who wants to turn his farm into a model for sustainable, small-scale farms. He lives in Konoin, Kenya, and is planning to invest in a Sistema.bio biodigester to treat the manure from his 40 birds, six goats, and three cows and transform it into renewable energy (biogas) and nutrient-rich organic fertilizer (biol) for domestic and productive uses.

Indeed, he used to pile up his animals' waste on his farm, where it was emitting greenhouse gases and contaminating the environment. Through his eight cubic meters Sistema.bio biodigester, he will be able to use the money he used to spend on wood, LP gas, and agrochemical fertilizers to invest in the expansion of his farm.

John's goal is to purchase more cows and increase his forage, vegetables, and tea production. As a result, his farm will become more cost-effective and sustainable as he starts applying the fertilizer from the biodigester to nourish the soil in an entirely organic and environmentally-friendly manner.

This loan represents 64% of the price of the biodigester; the remaining part is paid directly by John.

This loan is special because:

It saves farmers money by transforming waste into biogas and organic fertilizer.
