A loan of $700 helped purchase blankets & bedspreads.

Edith's story

Edith is 21 years old. She is a cheerful and hardworking young woman who lives at home with her parents and her beloved son Alexander who is 3 months old. Edith is willing to work very hard in order to improve her quality of life.

Her vending post is located at the San José Market (the largest market in city of Juliaca). She sells blankets and bedspreads that are shipped in from the cities of Tacna (on the border with Chile) and Desaguadero (on the border with Bolivia). New models arrive from these places and keep her location busy. What she enjoys most about her job is talking with the other merchants who work next to her and learning about things that are happening at the market. Edith has been in this business for three years and thinks the most difficult part is waking up at dawn to open her vending post, since people are accustomed to shopping early. In the future, she hopes to open a clothing store where she can better serve her customers.

This is her second loan from MFP. Edith is willing to make all of her payments on time so that she does not hinder the other members of her Communal Bank, where is well-liked because of the joy she brings to the group. With her loan of 2000 soles, Edith will buy more blankets and bedspreads in order to improve her business.
