A loan of $550 helped to buy fertilizer and high-quality seeds to help a widowed mom improve her horticulture farm yields, earn a higher income, and eventually turn around her life.

Jane's story

Jane is a widow who has always been there for her children, providing for their enormous demands, and meeting their educational requirements. Throughout her farming career, she has always searched for fulfillment of her family.

Like many farmers from Kerugoya, Jane keeps dairy cows and grows horticultural produce and maize, a staple crop, that she has been planting for as long as she can remember. Over time, the fertility of her land has started to decline, and her maize and horticultural yields are decreasing with each season. Her farmland has also been affected by weeds.

Jane is currently requesting a loan from Juhudi Kilimo, a Kiva field partner, in order to buy fertilizer and high-quality seeds to improve her horticulture farm. Through this loan, she expects to increase her crop production, improve the harvest, and earn a higher income.

This loan will help her to change her living standards. Jane is confident that, if you lend to her, her next planting season will be good. Show your love for a widow this month of February with just a loan.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
