Maravilla Group's story

The communal bank "Maravillas" started its second loan cycle with 17 members. The members have a variety of businesses including the sale of bread, ice cream, vegetables, clothing, shoes, food, flowers, fruit, china, books and groceries in general.

This is the case for Evelin, who is single, 23 years old and lives with her parents. Evelin sells salchipollos (a Peruvian chicken dish) from a door in her house; she carries out this activity every day in the afternoon. Cenia is single, 25 years old, and studies business administration. She sells clothing in the various markets in the region, an activity that she carries out each Sunday.

The members need different amounts of loans, such as 300 (Peruvian) soles, 600 soles or 900 soles, making a total loan of 13,500 soles to their communal bank. These loans will be invested in the purchase of a variety of clothing, potatoes, cooking oil, mustard, vegetables, shoes, flowers and fruit. The members dream of running their own business, finishing their studies, having a restaurant, having success and seeing their children become professionals.
