A loan of $725 helped purchase of fertilizer.

Tomas's story

Tomás is 23 years old, lives with his mother and his siblings in his parents' house. Two years ago, he independently decided to start farming quinua (a grain) and peas. He knew how to farm because had learned from his parents. His work is much harder during planting and harvesting seasons, but since he was very young he has been cultivating the land - fertilizing his plants and ridding them of possible pests. Previously, he has had to wait patiently for the harvest. In the future, however, Tomás wants to expand his farmland in order to increase production.

This is his fourth loan from MFP. He has a long history as a member of his communal bank and has demonstrated that he is a consistent and responsible worker. The money he is seeking now will be used to purchase sacks of fertilizer for the next time he plants his fields.
