Martha's story

Martha, 35, is a very happy and hard-working woman. She lives in a rented house with her two children; Juan is 15, and Sandra is 4. What she wants most of all is to succeed in life.

At more than 5,400 meters above sea level, Martha’s business can be found in the La Rinconada mine. She sells books and CDs, which she brings from the city of Juliaca. Her business is going very well, and there is a lot of demand because she does not have competition. Her customers know her and prefer her.

On the other hand, what she likes best about her work is selling, and she does it very well. She has been doing this for seven years. The most difficult part is putting up with the intense cold in this mining area. Later, she hopes to set up a store where she can sell more comfortably.

This is Martha’s first loan with MFP. She is very happy for the opportunity of the loan, and she expects to be able to pay it on time. In her communal bank she is much loved for the responsibility that she demonstrates. She will use the 1,000 PEN she is requesting to buy more books to better set up her place of business.
