A loan of $500 helped to buy one more pedigree cow.

Ogtay's story

Ogtay is a low-income, vulnerable person. He is married with three children and lives with his parents in the village of Saatli in the south-central area of the Azerbaijan Republic in the Caucasus.

Ogtay has four pedigree cows and he goes to Saatli daily and sells some milk there with his mother (she is in the picture), but the income from four cows is too low to support Ogtay's family. That’s why he decided to apply to Norwegian Microcredit's Saatli branch for a $500 loan to buy one more pure-bred cow to make his monthly income higher. In the Caucasus region the price of good cow is about US$ 800-1000, but Ogtay has some savings to add to the loan to make up the purchase price of the cow.
