A loan of $900 helped purchasing chickens, corn and vitamins.

Olga Isabel's story

Olga Bautista is a member of the communal bank "La Estancia." This bank, located in the canton of Paute, is made up of entrepreneurial women in search of a better present and future for their families. In this beautiful part of Ecuador, most people work cultivating flowers or fruits such as apples, plums, peaches, etc.

Olga has been a member of the communal bank for five loan cycles. She is 35 years old and married with four children. Her husband is an agricultural machine operator, and she works raising chickens. She currently has 200 birds, which she sells in a rural community. Thanks to both of their work, they have been able to build their own house. In addition, Olga is planning to start a business selling clothing, and she already has merchandise for that purpose.

Olga tells us that a friend encouraged her to join the communal bank, and since that time, she has worked with the loans she has received. With the current loan provided to her by the foundation, she will purchase chickens as well as corn and vitamins for her poultry farm.

Her greatest dream is to provide her children with a good education.
