Las Delicias Group's story

The Communal Bank “Las Delicias” (The Delightful Ones) was founded in April 2009 by a group of women who wanted to grow their small businesses. They are from the July 7th District and consist of thirteen members.

Sra. Elda serves as the group president. The women in this group engage in the sale of costume jewelry, food, handmade clothing, cosmetics, medicine, beverages, ice cream, and baked goods. Their meetings are held on Fridays at 3:30pm at the home of Sr. Elda.

Sra. Wilma is one of the founders of this group. She provides tailoring services out of the home of her sister, who currently lives in Spain. Wilma wants to acquire more sewing machines for her workshop so that she can provide better opportunities for her family.

Every day, Sra. Eusebia sells ice cream from her cart. When the weather is a bit cold, she sells popcorn. Eusebia and her husband always work very hard so that they can buy a house where they can raise their family. She is a responsible person and one of the more punctual members of the group.

Sra. Ana is new to the Communal Bank, but she is a dynamic person who sells groceries out of her own home. In the evenings, she sells hamburgers and fried chicken. Her family is very proud of her because she is a hard worker.

All of the members are grateful to Emprender and Kiva for demonstrating their confidence in them by providing this loan.
