A loan helped a member to buy cost-efficient maize seeds and fertilizer for the coming season as well as two solar lights.

Michele's Group's story

Michele is 27 years old and has three children. She is the leader of her group formed by eight farmers in Teso District, Kenya.

Michele has been farming with One Acre Fund since 2013. This decision was largely a result of her desire to get the best-quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds to farm. Although she described her last harvest as good, she believes she could have a better one this year by continuing to work alongside One Acre Fund.

Michele also decided to buy two solar lights as part of One Acre Fund’s loan program. She is very excited about these, as she will use less paraffin fuel and therefore save money.

Obtaining this loan means that Michele's group will receive farming inputs to plant a total of 2.75 acres as well as eight solar lights.

In this group: Michele, Amina, Julia, Emilly, Mildred, Marselina, Tobias, Sainabu

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
