Emelyn's story

Emelyn C. is a 42-year-old married woman who lives in the village of Brgy Gil Montilla, Sipalay City Negros Occidental. Her business is buying and selling rice, operating a farm shop, a piggery and a restaurant/carenderia.

Emelyn C.’s husband helps her run the business and they have two children who are 17 and 22 years old, respectively. The children are currently going to school and helping their parents run the business as part of their daily chores.

Emelyn C. joined NWTF-Project Dungganon in 1999 in the hope that she would be able to help her husband improve the quality of life for their family. With the help of her loans from NWTF-PD, she has been able to increase the family income by maintaining and growing her various businesses. Now she earns an average monthly income of PHP 10,000 from her business activities.

Emelyn C. is a member in good standing. Her previous loan of PHP 29,500 was used to fund the operations of her various businesses, and it had a positive impact in both the business and the family’s living conditions. Now, for her 18th loan, she is borrowing PHP 29,500, which she intends to use for additional working capital and to purchase farm equipment. Emelyn C. is working hard to achieve her dreams and aspirations for her family, which is to provide them with a brighter future and a more comfortable life.
