A loan helped a member to purchase cassava plants to grow.

Sokhien Group's story

A resident of Kampong Cham province, Sokhien is 38 years old and the mother of three school-aged children. Her main sources of income from which she can support her family’s living expenses are from cashew growing. She has been working on her farm for about eight years.

Her main challenge is a lack of capital to support her farmland. So Sokhien decided to form this group of three members to pursue a loan. Sokhien, seen on the right, will use her entire loan portion to purchase cassava plants to grow on her farm in order to add one more crop to her farm to boost her production.

She dreams of purchasing one more acre of farmland and supporting her children to get higher education.

In this group: Sokhien, Sreysras, Doeurn
