A loan of $1,000 helped to buy cereals such as corn to sell to her customers, to earn extra income to support her children, who are in school.

Esther's story

Esther (pictured outside her mud-constructed house) is an enterprising woman who has been through many difficult times in her quest for success. Though she was never enrolled in college, she is an accomplished farmer residing in a remote village in Eldoret. In her village, she is one of the most respected women. She loves taking care of her dairy cow and crops.

Being the only breadwinner in her house, Esther decided to start a cereal business with a loan that she obtained from Juhudi Kilimo. The business is growing and she is getting new customers. Esther is very creative, and has the ability to come up with new responses to situations. She has the insight to recognize and take up useful new approaches to farming.

She is seeking this loan to buy cereals to sell to her customers in order to earn extra income to support her children, who are in school.

Kenya's Eldoret area, one of the country's populated regions, has a high demand for cereals. This means that Esther could help satisfy the demand that is there and increase her profits.

Accessing funds has been a challenge for Esther, but since she joined Juhudi, in partnership with Kiva, she feels relieved and happy that her life has transformed.

Kindly lend to this determined mom!
