A loan of $725 helped purchase merchandise.

Elvia Maria's story

Doña Elvia C. manages a grocery business out of her home. She is 56 years old, married, and has two children who work on their own. Elvia started her business 22 years ago selling sweets to children. She gradually reinvested into her business and added basic grains to her inventory, which is what most people buy from her. Elvia says the objective behind starting her business was to look for an alternative source of income to support her children. Her husband was out of work at the time due to illness, which prevented him from securing permanent employment. However, this business has helped her family get ahead and prepare her children for college.

At the moment, Elvia is requesting a loan to purchase merchandise, mostly basic grains which she is able to sell more of in exchange for cash payments. She dreams of opening a larger business at the new market so that she can generate more income for her entire family.
