A loan of $3,550 helped a member to buy inventory for his telecom shop, such as phones and prepaid airtime vouchers.

Utamadumi Group's story

Reham S. is 28 years old and lives in Dar es Salaam. Reham owns a telecom shop where he sells telephones and prepaid airtime. He has been in this business for two years and currently earns 196,000 shillings a month (~ $150 USD).

This will be Reham’s first loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. With the loan, he hopes to increase the inventory of his telecom shop and improve his business.

Reham will share this loan with his loan group which includes 18 other men and women from his community. They work mainly in food sales and retail sales. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for repaying the loan.
