A loan of $700 helped to buy pastry supplies.

Sonia Del Pilar's story

Sonia, 52, is an honest woman who lives in the Callería district, Ucayali region. She has two children, one of whom is an adult. She sells prepared meals and makes tortas (a type of cake). She undertakes both activities from her home. Her husband works for an oil company and he supports her work efforts. Sonia has been a member of the “Las Orquídeas” communal bank for two years. Her first, 300 sol, loan was used to get supplies for her pastries. She now needs 2000 soles that will be used to buy more materials for her pastries since the business is doing well and there is more demand for her products. Sonia's goal is to have a pastry shop and to improve her restaurant business.
