Muazzama's story

The woman in this photo is Muazzama. She was born in 1979 to a working family. She is a careful mother of her seven children. Her husband is a migrant worker in Russia at a low salary.

Muazzama is a seamstress and sews many kinds of clothes. She has been working for 19 years and was taught by her mother. She has a lot of satisfied customers. Muazzama has been sewing clothes with her old sewing machine and now needs a new, modern sewing machine. She runs her business alone. She lacks financial support to buy a sewing machine and key supplies such as such as fabric, thread, elastic, and needles.

Muazzama intends to get a loan and enlarge her business. She is asking for a loan from Kiva’s partner IMON for the first time and promises to repay her loan on time.

She depends on you and thanks you in advance for the understanding.

This loan is special because:

It allows Tajik artisans to support their families and carry on important handicraft traditions.
