Qhantati Group's story

Martha Q. is a member of the Qhantati group, which belongs to the Los Andes community center. She makes “chajchas” (ribbon to which there are tied several goat or pig hooves, and when shaken, the sound produced suggests that of wind and falling rain). She has been working in this business for approximately 30 years. She sells her products in the city of La Paz and Cochabamba. With these earnings she has been able to get her five children ahead. She currently works with help from her grandson. She will use the loan to travel to different pueblos to buy hooves.

The other members of the group also have their own businesses like selling jackets, weaving, braiding blankets, selling embroidered clothes, and selling fruit and other things.

In this group: Paulina, Rosa, Martha, Toribia, Mauricia, Flora, Juana, Maria, Rosmery, Flora, Luisa, Ximena, Monica, Santuza
