A loan of $875 helped to buy pea seeds, and organic and chemical fertilizers for her fields.

Sonia's story

Sonia is 27 years old and lives with her husband Amarildo, who is 29. They have a son, Miguel, who is 4 years old, and they also live with her other son from a previous relationship, Robert, who is 9. They all live together in their own modest home. For 5 years she has worked in agriculture. She starts work early in the morning and works until dusk. The land where she cultivates Peruvian potatoes, peas, beans and gladiolus flowers was inherited from her parents so that she could work with her husband and in this way manage to get ahead economically. This activity has been profitable, so she is motivated to keep working with dedication, as she desires a better quality of life for her children. In the future, she is thinking of buying an automobile to use in transporting the gladioli from the area where she lives to the flower market in the capital. In addition, she would like to plant an increased quantity of the rest of her products. This is her 4th loan from MFP, and she says that she will make her payments on time because she wants to get ahead. In addition, she is very content working with the members of her communal bank, who are punctual and honest like she is. She will invest the money from this loan in the purchase of 2 bags of pea seeds and 7 sacks of organic and chemical fertilizers, which will allow her to care for her plantings so that she can have a productive harvest.
