A loan of $875 helped buy seeds and organic and chemical fertilizers for his land.

Orlando's story

Orlando is 44, and he is married to 36 year old Marlene. They have three children; Yeson is 21, Yudy is 18, and Marita is 14. This family lives in a small house, which is their own.

For 24 years he has been cultivating peas, corn, potatoes (Peruvian tuber), and different colors of gladiola flowers. He inherited the land from his parents. His wife and children help him cultivate the land. What he likes best about his work is harvesting the potatoes and flowers, which sell rapidly in the wholesale market in the city. This activity allows him to live comfortably and to provide an adequate education for his children. With the earnings he also is able to get animals like livestock, horses, and donkeys. These make his farming work easier.

His desires to progress have made him think of buying more land and planting in greater quantity in the future. Most of all, he will do this with peas because he invests a small amount and gets good earnings in less time.

This is his ninth loan with MFP, and he knows that he will be punctual and responsible as always. He will use the money from the loan to buy bags of pea seeds, organic fertilizer, and chemical fertilizer to take care of his land. This investment comes to approximately 2,500 PEN.
