A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizers and good-quality seeds, to help a mum with great plans in 2019.

Flomena's story

Flomena is a university graduate who believes that hard work yields success. Because of her love for her family, she moves from pillar to post so that she can satisfy their needs. Thanks to her determination and focus, her children are schooling. Flomena loves agriculture not only because it helps her support her family, but also because it has been her passion since childhood. Flomena lives with her beautiful children in Nkubu, a region endowed with natural streams and green vegetation.

Early every morning before the fog clears, she wakes up, prepares her children for school, and later attends to her daily farming chores (weeding, planting, irrigating, and milking). Her major sources of income are crop and dairy farming. Although she has been earning some income from her farm, everything has not been easy for this enterprising woman. Her farm’s produce has reduced due to a lack of fertilizer and good seeds, and the presence of pests and diseases.

That is why Flomena, having learned that Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo are in partnership, is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizers and good-quality seeds, to expand her horticulture farm. Through this loan, Flomena will be assured of a bumper harvest, which will mean more profits and income. As a result, she will be able to expand her enterprise. It will change her life and the welfare of her family in 2019.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
