Phoung's story

Phoung S., 43, is married and lives with his five children in Phnom Penh City, Cambodia in the Mean Chhey District. S. and his wife have been involved in growing morning glories for sale since 1998 and are able to earn an income of $9 per day. The family is also assisted by two of his children who are currently working at a restaurant. Each earns an income of $5 each per day to help cover the family expenses. S. and his children try to work hard every day to ensure a good standard of living for the family. And they are seeking to improve their businesses. As a result, he is requesting a loan of $1000 from CREDIT, Kiva’s partner. He wants to use the loan to purchase seeds to grow more morning glories for his existing customers at the market. This is S.’s first loan from CREDIT.
