A loan helped a member to restock more groceries and better utilise the space in her shop.

Kunaka Group's story

Susan is a 38-year-old woman living in Glenwood, Harare, Zimbabwe. She is the married mother of five children, and her husband is a self-employed builder.

Susan operates a grocery shop at the local shopping centre. She started her business many years ago to support her husband’s income, which was not enough to sustain the growing needs of the family.

Susan and her friend, Orish, make up the Kunaka loan group. The group's first loan helped Susan to acquire land and build her own shop, saving on the rental expense she used to incur. Kunaka group has now received their third loan and Susan used her portion to restock groceries and better utilise the space in her shop.

In this group: Orish, Susan
