A loan of $525 helped construct a modest house and buy toys for the holiday season.

Roxana's story

Roxana is 30 years old, lives with her partner, and has two young children: Angela, who is 8 years old and Nicol who is 2 years old. Roxana is a native of the city of Urubamba in the department of Cusco and is a member of the village bank "Jose Carlos Mariategui" within the Asociación Arariwa. She wakes up very early to do housework including preparing breakfast for her husband and her children. After her morning housework, she goes to the local market "Mercado Modelo de Urubamba" by 7 am to sell toys until 7 at night. She has been involved in this business for a year now and has fared well thanks to her hard work. She will use the loan to build a modest house and buy toys for the holiday season.

Roxana is grateful for the opportunity offered with this loan and agrees to make all the payments on time according to the payment schedule. In the photo Roxana is accompanied by her younger daughter.

The city of Urubamba is 78 kilometers from the city of Cusco, a journey of about an hour and a half. Urubamba is in the heart of the Sacred Valley in Peru. In pre-Hispanic times it was an important center of agriculture.
