Thiane's story

Mrs Thiane K. lives in the village of Ouakam. She has been a member of the savings bank in Ouakam which belongs to the IMCEC mutual savings and credit union (U-IMCEC) since 2008 and has had one previous loan. She is a married woman with two children. She has a diversified activity. She is developing a commercial business selling various products as well a poultry farming business. She has ten years of experience in her activities. She is asking for a loan of 300,000 francs with which she intends to buy toys, sheets, nappies, shoes, bags, hair weaves ("greffages") and clothes that she will sell in her shop, which lies opposite the market in Ouakam. Her goods are often adapted to the needs of her clients depending on the occasion. What interests her most in her business is the contact with her customers and the fact that she gets to attend to them. This loan will allow her to expand the range of products she can offer to her customers with a view to satisfying their needs. The resulting increase in her profits will allow her to invest more in the poultry farming business. In line with its ongoing vision to participate actively in the battle against poverty, U-IMCEC, with the backing of its lenders, is successfully providing support for people to carry out lucrative income-generating activites; this in turn contributes to a welcome socio-economic development.
