A loan of $725 helped to purchase lace materials and textiles in bulk.

Benjamin's story

Benjamin is married and has no kids. He is a 31-year-old trader. He lives with his wife in a rented apartment in a community in the western region of Ghana. He trades in garment tie dye material. Tie dye is designed from the combination of plain white cloth soaked in mixed dye to get the actual design. Tie dye is very useful and beautiful, so many people purchase it. The fabric can be sewn into African wear and it can also be used to sew a traditional style of clothing. Benjamin treks to Takoradi to buy his stock of goods. For lack of adequate working capital, he buys only a small amount of lace material and sells through hawking. He believes the loan will enable him to grow his business to the expected level. With the loan, he wants to purchase lace materials and textiles in bulk. He hopes to use part of his profit to expand his output.
